a friend of mine has the denon 2700F which is the new model DJ CD player and while it is a great improvement on the 2000, i still find turntables far easier to deal with. of course the main problem is that underground dance music still gets here on vinyl long before the CDs arrive, so if you want to be cutting edge, it's gotta be vinyl. vinyl is dead and buried as far as pop music goes - you don't see new pop albums coming out on vinyl. but for the dance scene, vinyl 12"s are still Where It's At. you have to go to specialist dance shops to get them, but i gather it's the same over in the UK.

you mean dance music? depends on the area of the country. here in SF that funky house thing still gets a lot of play. i just buy all the top UK releases anyway... my favorite of the moment would be "the cat" by system exclusive on Eastern Bloc.
